Conservation Easement for Web
The easternmost ~3.5 acres are protected by a conservation easement that was originally established in 1995 to help preserve the old growth trees and to reduce taxes. Some of the trees on the property are a remarkable 120 years old and help to provide the exquisite sense of privacy that the estate affords. Currently the easement is managed by Forterra, the largest land conservation non-profit in Washington. The process to maintain the easement has been well documented and could be seamlessly transitioned without disruption. Any future exterior work of the main house, guest house, or grounds on the parcel closest to the water would also need to be completed in observance of the agreement.
The conservation easement ensures that the privacy and remarkable forest will be maintained for years to come, while also offering private walking trails and the benefit of reduced property taxes.
